Dear Austin Clarke,

Thanks very much for your letter. I’m glad you don’t think Bluebeard needs an explanation on the programme. An explanation seems to nail down a play. I’m not bothering about the lack of music. Bluebeard had such a drench of music and clutter of musical instruments in 1933 that a clean, bare Bluebeard will be a change. I’ll [sic] will come along to the dress rehearsal on Sunday – Ria Mooney did not ring up today – I suppose it will be in the afternoon.
