2 Kenilworth Square,
Friday 8th Dec ‘39

Dear Austin Clarke,

What about next Friday, this day week, the 15th? How would it suit for our long deferred talk?
We would be delighted if you and your wife would come along that evening about 8 o’clock or any time after 8 that suits you.

My husband is still dreadfully busy – swamped in work – but he has promised to isolate or insulate, or even if necessary, sublimate that particular evening so that nothing less than a calamity can prevent his being on the spot when you come as I hope you will.
Best wishes from both of us.

Yours sincerely,
Mary Devenport O’Neill.
